| |  recording hdtv from cable box ok heres my question, i got punk ass time warner cable with the explorer 8240hdc dvr cable box this is what i want to do i want to record the cavs games on my dvr and then transfer them to my computer so i can save them i downloaded a driver that was supposed to be for cable boxes but it dont work im not sure if i need a tv tuner or video capture card or what the main thing is i want to play the recorded game and save it to the computer not record it to the computer while the games live somebody hook me up please the nba season is close! | |

| |  I know a ton about HDTV, but unfortunately I don't know about how to transfer them to your computer. I am pretty sure you need a special device on the computer to do this such as a TV tuner and/or special cable card for the computer. Have you looked into a Slingbox by any chance? They are expensive, but from what I have heard they are worth it. You can stream anything from your TV to your computer.

| | Come to think of it, I remember looking around at Tiger Direct for what you were talking about. The device needed to do this was anywhere between $60-$120 I think. If your doing HD, the device you will need is a bit higher I believe. Is your computer HDCP by any chance?
