i used to always use the newest post thing to see the most recently active threads

Click New Posts at the top on the navigation bar.

I don't get what you are getting at? Top forum news? Are you talking about the very top where we have what new albums there are and such?

Anyway, if you want to see new posts, just go to the upper right above where it says how many PM's you got and click on posts since last visit. Thats what I always do.
